Discovery Webinar – 30th November 2011
On Wednesday 30th November 2011 we held a webinar providing an update on our progress in the ‘Discovery phase’ of the Global Repertoire Database project. We covered an overview of our work to gain an in-depth, end-to-end understanding of the music publishing industry and the issues that it faces; the scope of the GRD; the guiding principles behind its design; and the key design questions we are aiming to address in the Future State design phase of the project.
The webinar was presented by Neil Allcock (Deloitte), Sharon Boyse (Sony/ATV Music Publishing), Keith Hill (PRS for Music) and Patrick Rackow (ECSA) and was attended by over 150 people from around the globe and across the industry, representing societies, publishers, music service providers, record companies, and composers, among others. A poll during the webinar revealed that 74% of the voting participants agreed that our discovery work so far is headed in the right direction.

Stakeholder Engagement and Scoping Study Launched
27th September: the Global Repertoire Database Working Group has now launched its Stakeholder Engagement and Scoping Study. The Study will involve a 20-week industry-wide consultation to determine the technical, data, business process and organisational design aspects of the Global Repertoire Database, as well as the approach to governance and funding. There will be a core group of around 20 representative organisations from around the world including publishers, songwriter associations, collecting societies and digital retailers, with yet further consultation with a wider group of stakeholders. A programme of open webinars will set out the plan for the design phase of the GRD.
Organisations involved in the project
The number of organisations involved in the GRD initiative is now significantly increased and represents a much broader section of the industry.
